Don't sell these little munchies short, although they sound very simple and mundane.
I guarantee that you just can't leave them alone once you start on them!
They are easy to make, and convenient to have on hand. After cooling they can be frozen in
freezer bags indefinitely, and poured out into serving dishes as needed. They thaw in minutes, but taste
great while you're waiting for them to warm up!
2 boxes Oyster Crackers (The thin, hexigonal ones work best)
1 bottle of Orville Redenbakers buttery flavor popcorn oil
1 Package Hidden Valley Original Ranch Dressing
Mix the dry dressing and oil together, blending well.
Put the crackers in a large roasting pan and pour the mixture over the crackers
Stir. Stir. Stir. Make sure all the crackers are coated well
Bake in a preheated over at 200º for 2 hours, stirring every half hour or so
TIP:These snacks sound as if they would be greasy, but are not at all.
Use the Hidden Valley dry mix if possible, as it has more of the green herbs and stuff in it.
My Scot frugality prompted me to use a different brand, and it wasn't nearly as good.
It turned out OK though, as I pawned it off on my kids who didn't know the difference.
If you think this recipe has made too many, just wait until you start serving them.
