Husband: Gordon

Gordon and I live in the house my dad built where I was born and grew up. I drove Lake Stevens school bus for 11 years, two of those I spent going to night school where I earned my diploma-for which I am very proud. I owned and managed Boondocker's Drive-Inn at Frontier Village for four years. I have been a volunteer for the past 19 years for Lake Stevens Community Education and was honored in '93 as "volunteer of the year" for the school district.

Gordon and I have been married 42 years in October. We have three daughters and three grandchildren. One daughter is a teacher for Lake Stevens at Sunnycrest Elementary, another is a R.N. and working at Tokeland, WA., and the other is in retail sales. Our oldest grandson is in his 3rd year at WSU and is currently an exchange student in Australia until Dec. 2000. The other two grandkids are in Lake Stevens Schools.

Gordon retired from his own logging company in '89. Since then we've motor-homed a lot, gone to Alaska twice, Montana several times, and most recently "South" for six weeks. Additionally, we often take trips "East of the Mountains" for camping and fishing.

Life is good.
2007 Update:

How do you sum up the last 50 years in a few sentences?  We’ve lost some friends and family members along the way and gained some through marriages and such.  I’ve had the same very dear friend, Pat Bogart Brodhead since 1953.  We just had the privilege of celebrating another special birthday together in June.  I’m still volunteering for Community Education at Lake Stevens Schools after 27 years.  I have had my doilies, table runners and tablecloths in the Lake Stevens Dicken’s Fair every December for the 18 years.

Gordon and I are coming up on our 49th anniversary.  We’re still living in my Mom and Dad’s house that my Dad built and I grew up in.  Although everyone in our neighborhood has sold out to the developers, we have no plans to sell or move anywhere.  We’ve traveled as much as possible over the years, mostly by motor home in the last 17.  Love motor homing!!!

Our 3 daughters are doing well.  LaiLonnie and Randy live in Raymond where she is a nurse in the Raymond/So. Bend/Wesport area.  Kathy is living in Okanogan and loves it there.  Carolymn and Jerry live in Lakes Stevens where she is a 5th grade teacher at Sunnycrest Elementary.  Our 3 grandkids are Nick, (Casrolyn’s son) who is going to become a teacher soon and is married to a 4th grade teacher at Sunnycrest.  Kate (Carolyn’s daughter) is a sophomore at Lake Stevens High School.  Dustin (Kathy’s son) is a builder in Leavenworth.  He gave us our first great-grandchild, Caiden, who was born in November of 2006.  We’ve had no serious health issues over the years, thank God, but we have slowed down since 1957.

Life’s been good.
