Husband: Joe
As of May 15, 2000
I am still employed by SAFECO Properties, Inc. in Seattle. This is supposed to end on October 31, 2000. There are no guarantees on that date. We have had closure dates several times in the last 2 1/2 years. SAFECO has decided to sell off our division of the company, and it is taking longer than expected. Since I do not want to go to work for SAFECO Corp. I will take my retirement. I have been with the company 21 years and have moved from a part-time data entry operator, to AS/400 systems operator and Computer Technical Support Specialist for the office. I used to manage 80 PCs, which I had networked to our AS/400. We are now down to 9 PCs, so I am becoming a very bored specialist.
We were the builders of Cascade Mall in Burlington, Kitsap Mall in Silverdale and most recently Redmond Town Center in Redmond, plus numerous other malls around the country. Including the prime mall of the country Washington Square Mall in Beaverton, Oregon. Yes, the commute is a killer. I drive to Marysville and take the bus to Seattle, with lots of book reading and naps.
I have 3 daughters and one son, 1 granddaughter and 5 grandsons. All living locally, with one in Lake Stevens, one in Sultan, and 2 in Everett. My Mom is still living and in Everett.
My husband has been retired since 1986 from a NAPA store he owned in Bellevue. So you know who gets the daytime babysitting jobs of grandchildren, when needed.
Life has had its lumps and bumps, but basically has been very good to me. Our new home in Arlington is on the hill above the airport with a beautiful view, weather allowing, of the Olympic mountains. Any of you would be welcome at any time, if you can catch me at home. I am very involved in a large women's charitable group, and will be a state officer this year, which requires quite a bit of traveling.
I love the new web site and hope it is a way to know more about all of you. Being a transfer to Lake Stevens my Junior year I didn't have the opportunity to get to know many of you well.
See you on the Web. Lorraine
2007 Update:
I am the mother of 4, three daughters and one son. One in Lake Stevens, on in Snohomish, one in South Everett and the youngest lives in Missoula, MT. I have six grandchildren, all boys except one. We lived in Mountlake Terrace for 35 years and now are in Arlington. My hobby is my home and flower gardens, sewing and reading.
After working 22 years for SAFECO Properties in the information systems department, I retired for four years. I now work as a lead clerk for Coldwater Creek, a women's clothing store at the Outlet Mall in Marysville. I am basically in charge of inventory coming into the store, but also work on the sales floor and manage opening the store on a rotation basis. I may give this up in the fall except on a limited basis, working enough to keep me from getting cabin fever.
Joe and I have taken many wonderful trips. The most exciting one was from Dover, England through the Kiel Canal in Germany and into the North Sea. We visited Berlin, Talliun, Estonia - St. Petersburg, Russia - Helsinki, Finland - Stockholm, Sweden - and Copenhagen, Denmark. Really a trip of a lifetime for me. Other trips have taken us to the Western Caribbean, Alaska and from New Yrk to Nova Scotia, stopping at many ports up the Western Seaboard.
Joe's health is not the best and will not be with me at the reunion, his speech gets muddled due to a stoke in 1998 and his hearing is minimal. It make it difficult for him to converse in large crowds.
