Goals in 1957:

"To go to college and join a sorority."

Mike Bartleson
Now:
I spent the summer of '57 working in Alaska, school at WSU in the fall. I worked for Everett Plywood for 5 years. In 1963 I worked for the Yakima Police Dept., retiring in 1992 after 29 years.

Since our last class reunion Carol and I have changed our lifestyle again. In 1997 we purchased property in Port Lions, Alaska. We sold our home in Selah, WA. in 1999 and I built a 3 bedroom home in Alaska. Carol continued to work at Wells Fargo Bank until January 2000. She retired from the bank and we moved to our new home in February 2000.

The place is called Settler's Cove B&B L.L.C. We opened for business in May 2000. Tourist activity here is fishing, hunting, whale watching and sight seeing. Port Lions is a small remote village on Kodiak Island.

2007 Update:

I retired from Yakima Police Department 1-31-92 with 29 years of service.  I worked at Pepsi for 1-1/2 years driving semi and delivering product.  I then spent 3 years at the new Yakima County Court & Detention Facility as security.

Carol and I decided to build a B&B on Kodiak Island in Alaska.  We went north in 1999 and cleared the land and built the 3 bedroom house and in 2000 Carol joined me.  We ran the business for 5 years.  During our time in Alaska we had the pleasure of meeting people from all over the world and many friends.  We left Alaska in April 2005 and relocated back in Yakima.  We drove down the Alcan from Homer Alaska and enjoyed the scenery and wildlife along the way.

We have traveled to Arizona, Georgia, California, Hawaii, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada and Montana.  This summer we visited Yellowstone and Mount Rushmore.

We are fortunate in the fact we have been healthy and look forward to enjoying life more.

We are looking forward to seeing all of you at the reunion.
